Das Ziel der Instrumentenbauer bei der Entwicklung des Melton MWF 10 Flügelhorns war, eine leichtere Ansprache sowie eine verbesserte Intonation zu erreichen. Der charakteristische Klang eines Flügelhorns mit Zylinderventilen wurde dabei beibehalten.
Anders als beim MWF 12 ist beim WMF 10 am Schallstück eine zweite Stütze verbaut. Das Flügelhorn ist nahezu perfekt ausbalanciert und liegt absolut griffig in der Hand.
