After long research, nerves of musician friends and sound comparisons I have decided for the Shure Beta 58A.
So great excitement when the package came quickly and reliably from Kirstein. Whether it really holds at the home speaker in the rehearsal room, what I expected? Can it outperform the SM58 and be just as feedback-proof?
Yes, it can, and does everything just a touch better. The sound is a bit more like the original voice, it doesn't know knocking noises and the supercardioid reproduces the vocals cleanly and powerfully. The SM does the same in comparison, but the Beta is much more directional and doesn't pick up unwanted remnants of the instruments. Thus the vocals clearly stand out. A comparison with two cheaper microphones is then finally convincing. While these sound - at least with my voice - a bit pressed, the Beta remains absolutely clear and pleasing to the ear. If it survives now still so reliably also hard gigs like the good old Shure SM58 (and it is supposed to), then it is hardly to be made better.
So an absolute recommendation for all who want to use a microphone without trouble even on stage.
