I'm a guitarist and I bought this bass mostly to use as a decorative piece for its rickenbacker looks. But then I started playing and I liked it a lot that I even started riffing on it.
FAST DELIVERY BUT MANY ISSUES

... and perhaps even better up close than the original! I've always liked the look and sound of the Rick design, but it never really fit on the belly. A long time ago I tested both an original 4003 and a Chris Squier 4001 CS. The quality was shocking and completely at odds with the price. In any case, I think that the original ribbed braker is basically a pretty bad design. The electronics and bridge are no engineering marvels and I still don't understand how they came up with the idea of squeezing two trussrods into a four-string neck. The price is outrageously exorbitant! But: the sound has made history.
This piece here for just under 170 euros is - if you ignore your personal aversion to Made-in-China - worth every penny. The workmanship is above average for this price. The two-tone sunburst finish is flawless. The body is made of three pieces of basswood and the neck is not continuous like the original, but glued in. The weight certainly varies from batch to batch. The 3.88kg here is pretty shoulder-friendly. The neck-to-body transition is - just like the binding of the neck and body - flawless. Nothing protrudes, no corners or edges. The 20 frets are cleanly inserted and well dressed at the edges. The surface is slightly rough, but that plays down. I've experienced worse with >3k euro basses! Visually and - fortunately - technically, the bridge has nothing in common with the original! But it works and fulfills its purpose!
As already mentioned by others here, you should have some knowledge of the technology and adjustment work on the bass. As I said, the bridge is adjustable in all necessary dimensions and you have to make use of this. The intonation was probably only visually adjusted at the factory. After using the saddle file, a low, comfortable string action can be achieved without any problems.
The four large-wing tuners are really not bad and hold the tuning reliably. The rather low-output pickups, on the other hand, can confidently give in to the desire for an upgrade. There is a selection of usable replacements for the neck pickup, which correspond to the Rickenbacker format and should fit without much tinkering. In the bridge position, the Jazz Bass format has probably been chosen for the sake of simplicity. You could therefore install any JB bridge pickup here. For a replacement in Rick format, the router would have to be used. The electronics are simple and do their job without any shielding. But at this price, you can still let off steam here when upgrading!
The strings are not completely unusable, and the feel is also ok, but with your favorite wires (Bass Centre Elites) you will experience a quantum leap in sound even with the factory pickups.
All in all a great offer, especially if you enjoy a bit of tinkering and have always wanted to have a Ricky (not only) as a second bass ...

After reading through the other reviews, I decided to buy the thing as a decoration for my basement anyway. Either I was lucky or others unlucky. Because: contrary to other reviews, the bass delivered to me looks really great. No paint damage, no incorporated barcodes or anything else. Visually in any case close to the original.
After unpacking, however, something is immediately noticeable ... You definitely need a Badis understanding of how to adjust a bass (or a guitar). The bass was not playable. The strings were resting on the fingerboard and it was not fretless. So if you want to play it, you have to invest 5 minutes beforehand and get the thing going. After that, however, you experience a small surprise for the price ... lirz tuned and you have an amazingly good sound for just 170 euros ... my first bass has then cost a little more than twice as much and that had nen less good sound...
The workmanship is not bad either. Sure, you buy a bass for 170 euros. You should not expect a premium instrument. This is also noticeable in some places. The knobs for the pots sit very high, for example. There could have been used more suitable pots. But otherwise really good. No paint defects, no paint damage... Nothing... visually very close to the original...
I will give it a new set of strings and then it will be played at home... he will probably not see a stage with me.
In summary:
Much better than I thought!
Who can adjust a bass, may even have fun with this... and if you do not feel like it, you could not change the pickups and you get nen quite acceptable instrument for little money.
One star deduction because the bass was obviously not adjusted at the factory... this also indicates that the function was also not tested... here would be a quality control desirable

After unpacking, it turned out that the bass was not tuned at all. The strings were hitting the frets and I had to raise the bridge a bit. Also, the neck was crooked and I had to correct that with the adjustment screw on the headstock as well. Other than that, it looks good, and now that it's playable, it sounds good.

For the price, I say it's worth it, excellent tone is very close to the Rickenbacker, if not equal. Only a few finishing touches to improve, on mine you can notice a slight offset and smearing of paint or glue on the grommet of the first capo, but it's not a serious situation.
I would have preferred if the headstock of the neck had the shape of the richembaker, for a more realistic impression and resemblance.
In any case, it makes a good impression. I recommend it to those who don't want to spend a lot of money to have the Rickenbacker sound.
I am very satisfied as long as there are no problems.

Product arrived on time. What made me buy this bass is its "little Rickenbacker look", and I read some comments, one of which was very praising, from a guitarist, and I plugged it in: then I was surprised because I did not expect the sound to be so good and similar to the Rickenbacker.
Pleasant to play, nice finish, EXCELLENT VALUE FOR MONEY. I speak in knowledge because I own a few guitars: 3 Fenders, 3Burns, 1 Marcus Miller and others.
Kirstein: serious house.

In the 80s I played an original Rickenbacker 4001 bass. Was very happy with it. Until a friend said, the bass sounds good, but the bottom end is still a bit weak. I listened again, yes, a little weak in the bottom end. Soon I exchanged the Rickenbacker for a Squier Jazz Bass.
Only years later it dawned on me: the bass was OK, my bass system at that time was a bit weak in the bottom end...
Today a Rickenbacker costs 2000.-, either 20 years old or new. 2000.-
Ordered the Rocktile bass about 2 years ago. Looks great. Underwent some cosmetic upgrades to the instrument and am enjoying it.
Yesterday I wanted to know more, grabbed the Rocktile and asked in the nearest music store if I could compare with them the Rocktile 1 : 1 with the 2000.- Rickenbacker. Was no problem.
The test knocked my socks off. The Rocktile bass surpassed the Rickenbacker in terms of pressure and presence. Awesome.
No more and no less. Of course, the bass has no Rickenbacker lettering. The bridge is kept simple, the tuners are OK. Zero cause for criticism. Everything does 1A.
Grab it before the Kirsteiner get the idea to ask for five times the current price for the Rocktile. Which would still be an absolute dumping price.
The part shreds.

an excellent bass, if you do not take offence at the fact that a cheap MM-copy bridge was installed, which, however, only affects the appearance and can be replaced for a few euros. The sound is OK, but with the low basic price it pays off to have replacement pickups, which enhance the part even more (by the way, better copies were only available from Ibanez more than 40 years ago).
It's not what it imitates, but it's a very decent bass.

The bass is very nice although obviously not the original.
In the condition it arrived in it was unplayable. Not only because it was out of tune but also because it was badly adjusted. The 3rd and 4th strings were rubbing against the bridge pickup protector.
After adjusting it myself it was pretty decent. There is only one point on the neck where I can't get it to sound good (I have to take it to a luthier to check it and tell me if that defect can be fixed or not, but I haven't had the time).
It has a sound that I guess it won't be the reference bass since the neck pickup is humbucker and not single coil, but it sounds punchy. The potentiometers are fine, they don't scratch or sound.
The wood is a separate issue. The boards that form the body are not even parallel to the neck, although that can only be appreciated by looking at the back of the bass.
I don't like the color of the headstock. In the original the neck has the darker color of the sunburst.
I'm not sure if the bridge pickguard is a help or a hindrance. Although that also happens on the original, of course. :-)
It seems like it's all negative and it's not. It's a fun bass to play, with a decent sound, at a laughable price.
A worthwhile purchase if you like that aesthetic.

Actually, I'm a guitarist, but occasionally have to help out in a band as a bass player and was looking for an affordable instrument that does justice to the tasks (covers of the 60s). Now it's not really my style to buy an instrument online, but here I was guided by first impressions and was not disappointed. As soon as I unpacked it became clear to me that the promotional photo on your website was not a glossed over post-processed picture, but that the bass looks genuinely attractive. It lives up to its model (Rickenbacker). After tuning and adjusting the fret purity, we went to the amp, and what can I say, the sound convinced me completely. Depending on the position of the pickup selector switch, everything is possible from crisp treble accentuated attacks to buzzing slap technique to abysmal "muff bass". Also the tone pots are not only noticeable in the last third of the control range as with many other instruments, here a continuous sound change takes place from beginning to end, which again extends the expression possibilities enormously. Adjusting the volume potis only changes the volume and not also the sound, as it was the case with my older guitar. Except for one small shortcoming (the mounting nut of one tone pot was loose and had to be retightened), there are no negative aspects.
And the delivery was fast (2 days) - so anytime again at Kirstein, thanks again !

Have ordered two of these basses (more for decoration). Once un this sunburst and once in nature.
With the Sunburst version it was probably a "Monday model". It has some bigger varnish damages
and some quirks. What but sesonderas striking also some large black dots under the
transparent varnish. So in general it looks like the coloured varnish is a "photo wallpaper" as it is the case with many cheap instruments.
as it is done on many cheap instruments. In general the whole varnish layer seems to be
also seems to be extremely thin.
The natural version, on the other hand, is quite cleanly finished. This Sunburst goes but times not at all.
Will probably also be the reason why they have cost until a few days ago a lot less. Was
probably a margin that was perhaps even known not so processed. Send back is
me at the price too ridiculous but you can use it even as decoration not in the condition.

Good product considering the price...maybe a bit unbalanced but not unmanageable...the pickup on the bridge very valid, the one on the neck questionable...fluid all in all!

Unboxing First Impression - ????????? What is that??? Painting visually miserable. At the bottom ca, a 40 cm long "BARCODE" incorporated into the paint. (MISERABEL). Also over the corpus scattered black small rectangles at the corpus with in-painted. Varnish a clear "6". My guess is drunk assembly line workers drinking and no one checking. Send it back - a Rick copy for 150 euros? Wasn't worth the expense to me. That's probably how hundreds of buyers think and that's why such mistakes are accepted. The bass sounds very good after some tuning for my needs. Will continue to buy from Kirstein.

I'm actually an experienced guitarist and wanted to try my hand at bass.
Since I'm totally into vintage instruments, the Ricky copy in sunburst was perfect!
Shipping was fast, and from the outside the thing looked really bomb!
Only the strings and the side position like the neck adjustment were not so nice.
The strings rattled on the pickup cover!
But for the price you should not complain and after a few fine tuning and new strings directly a different playing feeling!
Can recommend this bass for any beginner and also advanced bassists who are into this kind of bass, but do not want to spend 2 grand!

First of all: for the price, the workmanship is very good, the delivery was very fast. I wanted for a long time for a custom -project a bass with this shape!
For beginners only if they take into account to go to the adjustment (from the price is still air). So there would be the neck curve, string action, pickup height and a little tweaking of the fret ends.
After all this work you have a nice playable bass. Only the electrics are VERY quiet, even for a passive instrument. I have to work on that again...

Bass guitar visually so far ok, except for individual paint deviations, but for the price ok. Upon delivery, the strings rattled despite full tension only so on all bridges. The neck had to be adjusted first and the cheap strings exchanged for better ones. After the correct tuning and correction of the neck, the E and A strings clanged on the cover plate above the pickup. A PVC pad had to be installed between the plate and the body. The cheap guitar cable and the socket that sometimes worked, sometimes hummed and sometimes didn't work was also unpleasant. Guitar cable and jack changed.
Conclusion: Who has time and some expertise, gets with some corrections the bass so that it works quite well in our gospel band. The sound makes anyway amplifier + box.

For a long time I was looking for a bass in RB form. Here I found it, and it is probably also the cheapest variant on the market.
What should you expect for the price? The bass is ok - the workmanship is on the lower level, varnish etc. can not correspond to the upper class here. The playing feel is acceptable, the neck is quite wide, but the string action is good. The sound is as I had imagined - and thanks to the pickup constellation also very varied.
It was all about looks and sound here, that fits to some extent. Since I do not care about the paint defects and the labbrige, poorly milled pickguard.

Well, I loved the bass, I already had an idea, but now I know that it is a necessary bass to have with your other basses, ideal for those who know how to play it and those who do not. I'm happy, I just had to adjust the bridge a little and it sounds great.

when playing is nice and smooth.
In my opinion -. a lovely bass & for a great price!
And the delivery was really quick. Had it in 3 days !
Would recommend .??

First of all, many thanks to everyone who has rated the product so comprehensively and competently.
This has taken away my fear of ordering a bass for so little money.
First of all: I have a real Rickenbacker and a copy from Korea, which I also like to play.
I immediately fell in love with the RB Lumberjack with the wooden look and after the reviews were so positive, I ordered it straight away.
It's kind of logical that you can't expect an adjusted instrument for that little money.
But there's almost always someone who can help you.
After I had adjusted the neck a little, I connected the beautifully finished instrument to the amplifier with very few expectations.
And what can I say? A bombastic sound!
I will definitely be playing it live. And not as a replacement bass!
I'm most happy when I can tell the kids who often come to me after the shows and ask about my bass that they're getting exactly this instrument for this great price! 🙂
I've never been one to brag about expensive instruments. This thing looks great, sounds great and almost anyone can afford it.
A very clear recommendation to buy!

Beautiful device, but some shortcomings that can be fixed:
- Comes with mediocre strings (or cables!) that need replacing.
- Medium finishes (pickguard deburred?) and the varnish is still sticky, but still playable.
- The jack plug has sizzled, but it's new!
- the body has a how shall we say? somewhat rough ergonomics, the playing comfort is reduced.
And especially the adjustments, which are difficult (confidence stick). The luthier spent a lot of time adjusting it.
After a small setback (bought in 2018), in order not to detune the instrument, I had to remove the chrome microphone cover, the string height is now almost adjusted without too much fret knots. On the other hand, the trust rod is of poor quality :( I hope that this bass will not end up as a decoration with time!
The remaining stars are for:
- the neck mic, which is nice (slight chorus).
- Rick style
- the price

I'm giving the five stars here after fixing the following serial error (plus a single error) myself, and the ricken sound is now damn close to that of my former original from 40 years ago, putting an appropriate grin on my face. Here are the details.
MINUS:
1) Neck and bridge pickup sound nice and full on their own. Both together sound thin and bassless. How come's that? The clue was provided by an earlier review from a buyer: the pickups are soldered wrong - yepp! Hence the phase cancellation in the middle position. And this is a serial fault, as this is my third RB-400B, I already sent two back last year with this symptom, as they had another serial fault in addition:
2) The A-string at the 11th fret buzzed a lot, same spot on both. Also now on the third, but not as bad, and I accept this compromise and "bypass" this spot when playing.
To 1) So I unscrewed the white cover and carefully pulled it out from under the strings, turned it up, plugged in the soldering iron and off I went. At first I thought "that's not true, is it?" The wiring looks correct according to the colors. Nevertheless, I reversed the cable routing of the neck pickup between volume poti and changeover switch, re-soldered, and reinserted the cover with neck pickup. Amplifier on, and there the Rickensound was also in middle position. (Maybe one of the pickups from the factory/series already has the wires connected with the wrong colors inside. Either way - that's how to fix it).
3) This third copy had the following single error: the white cover, on which the neck pickup is mounted, had been shifted by 5 mm, yes. This caused the neck pickup to be displaced under the strings and the E-string was much too quiet. I fixed that myself: Since the cover was already unscrewed, it was aligned so that the neck pickup was correctly under the strings; the cover fixed all around with adhesive tape, with mm drill new holes for the screws set; cover in this position firmly mounted again.
PLUS:
Clear buy recommendation for anyone willing to do it themselves, as described above. For:
Ricken sound & Feeling (haptics, playability) are for me (born in 1960) so close to my former original, that it makes good mood.
Also, the overall look is close enough, and where else is there's that today for so few euros?
Have play along already celebrated a few old Deep Purple songs, there is real joy and you feel again like with 20 :-)

1 star deduction wg. the processing. Bass was not available when ordering. As far as okay and also communicated by Kirstein so, but the delivery was felt only after the first demand, when the bass was available again for a week.

Considering the cost I have to say it's a good bass, you need the truss rod and bridge setup because the strings are practically leaning on the frets but once done it's satisfying, also the sound is full.
The only thing I noticed is that using both the PU there is not this big difference, much better selected individually, personally I found good sound of the PU neck combined with the bridge pick.
I only replaced the strings with a scale from 50 to 105 for more fullness, the neck holds the tension without problems for now.

So, up front: This is my first instrument from Rocktile.
... but from the beginning:
The order process was easy, the shipping unproblematic, info about the status super and the packaging 1a. Just as it should be for a large music house.
Now to the RB-400B:
Since I'm just a hobby picker and can't afford an original R... B... I was very enthusiastic about the description and the optics. I was quite skeptical about the price, but since I also play some HB's, I just tried it out.
It is surprisingly light and also not top-heavy and the first impression was quite amazing. Mine is super processed, no snot noses in the paint, no burr etc.. Respect!
What surprised me a bit was how lovelessly "assembled" it came.
I'm used to your competitors that the picks, once unpacked, are somewhat playable. That was not the case here.
The strings were slapped on unkindly, the neck was hyperechoic and the ashtray was pressed so wide that it hit the strings. So first I took the thing apart and adjusted it properly.
I also inspected the materials and I have to say: Everything is top!
After everything was adjusted to my sausage fingers, the first round followed and here I must say: fat! From vintage to brutal everything is in there.
The sound shades react a little getting used to, but everything funzt.
So: I'm happy with the part for this price and call him "pizza maker" :)
Thanks Kirstein ... you see me again!

After a few adjustments, the bass is great to play. The sound is great for home completely sufficient. The strings are not so great but at the price.... Good workmanship, no paint damage, frets are ok... not necessarily a beginner bass because of the playing comfort but who likes the shape and does not necessarily want to spend 2000€ for it......recommendable!!!
Not bad for the price but...

Received in quite short time. Box ok and package ok.
Body : At a first glance quite good looking.. At a closer look finish is not bad for the body but binding is quite irregular with some little dents.. The nut is really cheap and badly worked(I'll change it asap) ..
Neck pu is "swinging" quite a bit..
Balance is ok although bass is a bit heavy (in my opinion)..
Sound: I quite like the sound of both pups when separate.. but in middle position (both pups on) volume is much lower compared to the single pups alone.. maybe wrong wiring?
Overall I like this bass but I think that with a little more attention it could be much better..

Navonok vzhľadom pekný tovar, s kvalitou vyhotovenia to už nebolo také super.
Super price performance ratio

I've been playing electric bass for about 30 years and have always "looked" for a Rickenbacker for my collection of Fender Jazz/Precision basses and G&L 4 and 5 strings. When I happened upon this model, there was no stopping me and I ordered it.
Unpacked - many thanks to the Kirstein team for the fast and trouble-free delivery! - I looked at it, tuned it and plugged it in - I am simply thrilled by the clean finish, the weight, the adjustment and above all the sound, which is very similar to the original.
In short - I can absolutely recommend this bass!

Fast delivery, properly packaged instrument.
When unpacking, we discover a nice looking bass, some defects on the table under the paint, the frets are correctly positioned, no bad surprises.
Some adjustments are nevertheless necessary: height of the pickups, adjustment of the bridges.
Equipped with flat spun strings I found a sound that suits me despite a bridge pickup a bit tight, the neck is pleasant to play, the bass is balanced, the weight is correct.
It's certainly not a Rickenbacker, but I'm not Paul MacCartney or Cliff Burton either, and for the price it's a very playable instrument after a few adjustments - this bass can also be the starting point for later modifications if you feel like an apprentice luthier.
Thank you KIRSTEN

The build quality is good, the strings are to be changed because they don't make the full potential of the bass, the set-up of the bridge - neck adjustments is to be adjusted (as for almost all new instruments), the electronics of the pickups (connected in series) with volume output problems, basically when you use both pickups at maximum volume the volume drops considerably. When the pickups are used individually it sounds fine. Setting a low action some keys at the bottom of the scale tend to fry. Discreet bass

The bass is visually very successful: It has a classic design and hangs balanced on the strap. The slightly wider fingerboard is easy to play and the neck has a nice D profile in the lower positions and becomes flatter towards the upper frets. The pickup cover does not hinder playing at all.
Sound: The bass has decent sustain and the body transmits this wonderfully. Actually I bought this cheap bass as a second bass. But it is really fun to play it.
Adjustment: Unfortunately I had to invest some work here: The low E-string was barely audible even after adjusting the neck pickup. After I flipped the pickup, all strings sound balanced.
The pickups were soldered wrong. In the middle position (both pickups dialed in) they cancelled out when both volume pots were fully turned up. I re-soldered the bridge pickup and that fixed the problem. I may also rewire the tone pots as the control travel is very limited.
I adjusted the string action to a flatter setting. This was no problem as the neck curve was already perfect! The octave purity also needed to be adjusted.
This may sound like a lot of work - but considering the price of the instrument, this is done quickly. And even much more expensive instruments are often not shipped perfectly adjusted either. So it's worth investing a little effort.
Components: I really like the pickups and they definitely stay in! Also the toggle switch snaps in robustly and makes a good impression. The pots run smoothly and evenly. The bridge used is much more robust than an original Rickenbacker. The tuners have a good transmission and make a good impression and the bass is very tuning stable.
So all in all a really good instrument that after a few adjustments is really perfect. A top price / performance ratio! My expectations were far exceeded.

Considering the price, the instrument is well finished and the starting settings of action, octaves and pickups, after a quick check, in the sample that arrived to me are more than satisfactory. The sound is really addressed to the Rickenbacker, bass of which it wants to be a cheap copy. Among the many basses I have in my studio, Fender and Music Man, I have had for some time also an original Rickenbacker and I can assure that the recognizability of the sound characteristics is absolutely impressive. In addition to some basses from original brands, I often use also minor and unknown brands of low-price replicas, in order to have quickly different timbres and playability characteristics. I had never found Rickenbacker replicas, and the originals are really expensive. This is really a very recommended purchase for those who want to have a well made instrument at an affordable price and with a sound that is absolutely comparable to the characteristics of the original from which it is inspired. Suitable for those approaching the instrument, but also to studios or professionals who, without investing a capital, can equip themselves with a worthy spare to expand their range of sound.
The shipment was precise and punctual.

It arrived at my house just in time for Santa Klaus. Very good sound, very well finished. The packaging is in perfect condition. Thank you very much for your kindness and professionalism.

The bass looks really good. Unfortunately it is not playable like this. Neck must be adjusted - as well as the pickups. The soldering of the pots and the cable holder is poor. I will replace the electronics. Since the price is ok I will probably take on the work and change some things. After that I should have a pretty good bass - although relatively heavy.

Nice copy, good playability and sound, a bit negligent finish, especially the edges of the schratchplate.

It is difficult to evaluate objectively here. The service is top, I got quite quickly a return for a bass with delivery damage. The packaging was also better. The price is solid, but has gone up almost 30% in the last 12 months.
The bass is unfortunately unplayable though. There is no string action, the neck is crooked. I will try to fix it myself, that seems to go according to reviews of other customers. So the bass as a gift but unfortunately a failure and it may not apply to any purchased good that it is not minimal functional. Visually but an eye-catcher and the processing satisfactory.

Hi, I received my bass and as soon as it was plugged in it was crackling from a very poorly connected ground. So I had to remove the plate and re-solder ALL the connections. The body is hollowed out and painted over. The head is damaged.
Other than that, it is very nice. The sound when four Blue Stell strings are strung is pretty good. The neck is reminiscent of my JACOBACCI, which is very wide (a very pleasant highway). It is very good. Only you have to accept to put the soldering iron and the dimples (nasty really visible and big) on the table.
Sincerely yours Franck ROUMILHAC

The bass came with zero adjustment and was simply not playable when delivered, the strings were on the neck, I've never seen anything like it.
So set the neck straight, adjust the bridge rider, then it worked.
But:
Bridge installed crooked, bridge is glued at an angle, paint noses or no paint at all on the head, various adhesive residues.
Who did the final inspection?
Probably no one, at least there was no corresponding sign.....
Visually, a nice bass but with the gross defects is not at all.
Not even for the money, there's from the big competition qualitatively better for the same money.
Too bad!
