Use this thing in my setup with digital audio workstation and USB audio interface. Sure, you could also connect guitar or bass directly to the USB audio interface, but so I loop the thing in front of my amp and the workstation gets the clean signal, even if my amp then has some effects. So I have a "clean" instrument track and can then switch on any effects in the workstation for mixing, so the self-recorded songs like the professionals completely mix.
For just over 20 euros you can not go wrong and the box works as it should. The ground lift switch is great to avoid ground loops, and there's also a resistor network in there to lower the input level for the DAW a bit when you feed in line-level signals.
