(you can test this by running the laptop on battery - if the hum is then gone, the power supply is to blame).

So it is best to take two connection cables and use the isolator only when necessary. For the price but really well made, he fulfills his task not bad. As a chinch variant for DJs rather recommendable. Since unfortunately only unbalanced signal comes out at the XLR outputs, I would rather advise a real DI box instead of the isolator cable.
With a DI box you have not only the necessary galvanic isolation, but also at the same time a balanced signal which can be transmitted without interference even over a few meters more.
