First of all, I am overjoyed that I was still able to buy this device from Kirstein. If I interpret it correctly, the pedal is no longer part of the Ibanez product range. In view of the outstanding quality of the distortion, the only plausible explanation is that the manufacturer might want to make some changes to the details in order to relaunch the SMMINI on the market. However, it is difficult to imagine that anything can be improved, as the floor pedal in its current form is already convincing across the board! After a few days of use, I can only report positive things: From slightly bluesy crunch to the most extreme metal shredding, the SMMINI can do it all! It cuts a great figure either as a classic effect in front of the amp or as a ground-in sound enhancer. Personally, I really like the combination with my Super Overdrive SD 1 pedal from Boss. By experimenting a little with the controls of both pedals, I was quickly able to find my sonic "sweet spot" that makes my heart beat faster. Here, the Ibanez Zerrer takes on the function of a booster for the Boss with an almost clean setting. Thanks to the Ibanez, the Boss now sounds significantly more voluminous and more radiant in all frequencies.
The robust construction of the cast-iron pedal suggests that it could be a distortion pedal for life. I am definitely impressed and would also like to thank Kirstein for the fast and safe shipping of the device.
