Die SG debütierte 1961 als Ersatz für die Les Paul, die wegen geringer Umsätze vorübergehend eingestellt worden war. Die SG Custom verfügt über ein Griffbrett aus Ebenholz, Einlagen im LP Custom-Stil, chrom Hardware und Alnico Classic PRO -Humbucker mit CTS-Elektronik.
