Um diesen Sound zu erhalten spendierte die japanische Firma Tama den Starphonic Snare Drums ein neues Spannreifen-, Böckchen- und Abhebungsdesign, montiert an einer Auswahl einzigartig konstruierter Kessel.
Die vielleicht wichtigste Neuerung stellen die "Freedom Lugs" sowie die "Claw Hooks" dar: Dank der neuen Konstruktion lassen sich die Spannklauen nach leichtem Lösen der Schrauben einfach zur Seite wegklappen. Der "Grooved Hoop" Spannreifen lässt sich auf diese Weise rasch entfernen und wieder montieren, was eine extrem schnellen und umkomplizierten Fellwechsel ermöglicht.
Verfeinert wird dieses Sytem noch durch ein schnell abnehmbares Butt-End, um auch den Wechsel des Reso-Felles zu beschleunigen. Die Feineinstellungen des Snareteppichs bleiben so zu 100% erhalten, ein erneutes Feinjustieren entfällt.
