We won't discuss the looks now. With the varnish and shine and the gold hardware it may be too bold for some - but impressive it is. The instrument is great to play: clean intonation, string action well set up, perfectly finished frets. Overall, the instrument is like a jazz bass, but more comfortable to play and much fatter and more versatile in sound. Is there anything to complain about? A little: the bass already had slight scratches and playing marks. Because these occur during use anyway, it doesn't matter. Also, there is a rough spot at the back of the neck. That either plays away or you have to polish it with steel wool.
But I won't give the Ibanez 2600 away now. My son has been longing for it and now I think he'll be happy with it.
