Epiphone Viola Bass Vintage Sunburst

While looking for a shortscale bass I came across the Beatle basses. Then I ordered the Höfner Ignition SE from another supplier. After the 1st exchange, I have also returned the 2nd Höfner again.
Defective action, buzzing tailpiece, truss rod too long after neck adjustment, octave purity not achievable I didn't want to try a 3rd Höfner again. Had the Epiphone Viola Bass already in mind, and after the Höfner experience, used the just good offer from Kerstein. The bass came very well packed as announced within 5 days. It was already quite well iustiert. Needs only a little rework. From the first play on it felt and sounded pretty good compared to the Höfner. The bass is a bit heavier than the Höfner, maybe that's why it seems a bit more robust. The bass can even be played without an amplifier. Here it sounds a little less deep compared to the Höfner. But at the AMP there is no difference for me. What I find, after I have kept the Vioala Bass now, as a blessing, is the regulation with the 3 Poties. I can operate this intuitively and very individually. With the Tone control, the sound can even be adjusted directly on the bass from light reverb to rather dull. The fact that Höfner continues to install the, allegedly existing in the Beatles original, faulty circuit in the new models, I personally find pretty stupid. It is not intuitive. I had to switch through everything again and again to find the desired setting. The only advantage is that the humbuckers are switched on/off with a switch. With the Viola I have to turn the potentiometer to zero. But as I said, I personally like it better. The build quality of the Viola is very good. The fingerboard was very well oiled.
All in all, I am now really very satisfied and take the bass very happy to practice and play.
