Acoustically it sounds very nice, loud enough for practice and maybe with a ukulele or quietly played acoustic guitar and singer together. But for playing in the rehearsal room you definitely need an amp. On my Ampeg amp it sounds really punchy and very "double bassy" with the Thundergut strings :)
They take a bit of getting used to, but after a bit of practice you can play them without any problems (small tip - press more in the middle between the frets instead of directly at the fret, like you are used to from a normal bass). I will also try out other strings (there are Silverback strings from LaBella (wound nylon) that are supposed to be closer to a normal bass and various polymer strings from Aquila (Thunder Reds and Thunder Blacks) with different sound and playing characteristics.
All in all, I find the Gold Tone Micro Bass great for practicing on the couch and as an eye-catcher in the rehearsal room or on stage.

Especially for me as a guitarist the perfect solution as an entry into the bass world without the disadvantages like the size of the instrument, frets, etc. You can make beautiful music right away and have fun doing it. Since I was looking for a classic sound rather than electric bass sound, I am absolutely satisfied with the Micro Bass.
Why not 5 stars? The electronics could be a bit more valuable.
